I am trying to run XF86 and Metro X of RedHat Linux 5.0 and so far I failed
to get it running.

I have the following hardware:

Motherboard: TX PRO-II
Processor: Intel Pentium 200MHz mmx
RAM: 64MB
HD: IDE 4.3 Gigs Quantum Fireball
Video Card: Matrox Mystique 2200 MHz, 4MB RAM
Network Card: 3COM 3C509B
Monitor: Hitachi CM500ET 15"

I have started with configX, and is giving me the following message:

Warning: Cannot convert string "icons/blue-bg" to type Pixmap.
Looking at /var/log/Xerrors and lists:
(--) Screen 0: SVGA
(**) XF86: color depth: 4bpp
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
Cannot open "keyamap/none" for reading
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap.

When runing startx, I have a black screen and I had to reboot.

I tried to run Xconfigurator, PCI probe found a:
PCI Entry: Mystique
X Server : SVGA

After hitting return, I get the following message:

Server doesn't exisit, can't continue.
tried to use ../../usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA
I have tried to use configX but gave me the same message as above.

Please any help would be grately appreciated.

You should get the file
ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/3.3.1/binaries/Linux-ix86-glibc/X331SVGA.tgz

The, decompress it with the command
   tar xvfz X331SVGA.tgz
and copy the file (from within the directory the above command creates)
XF86_SVGA to /usr/X11R6/bin
  cp XF86_SVGA /usr/X11R6/bin

Now run Xconfigurator, and it should be ok

- hope it works
