I confess I have not even peaked quickly at a FM, but I'm going to ask
here first 'cos I'm feeling idle...

I have three Debian machines on different hardware, one I have access to
and two are remote, in locations surrounded by naive (shall we say) users
wrt all things unix/linux. The machines act as email gateways via dial-up
links (to Demon, as it happens) and intranet servers for relatively small
LANs (less than 12 users at each of the remote locations).

I want some way to easily maintain the packages at the remote sites, sort
of mirroring the dselect selections, but with the observation that
although the majority will be identical, some of the configuration files
will differ at each site (like, ip address for example). I'd _really_
like to send the remote sites a script and say 'log in as root, run this,
don't touch anything else'. Anyone done anything similar? Any bright
ideas?

regards, Ian SMith
