I am running Win 98SE on a Pentium II 450, with 384 MB of RAM. One of the applications I run, Turnpike, (e-mail and news client) crashes regularly, and I'm told it only happens to a couple of users, with my particular version of Windows. The vendors have indicated that they are unsure as to the cause, and unlikely to be able to fix it. I've been offered an unwanted, and legitimate, retail copy of Windows ME. What's the going rate for that, say at Computer fair? What about Win 2000? What advantages, and disadvantages, would upgrading to either of those offer me? I don't fancy XP much. Given that my machine is a Dell Dimensions, what are my options for upgrading the processor? -- Andy Mabbett The next virus you download could be the one which wipes your hard-drive.
