Help please - and a warning to others.


I'm running ie4 under Win 98


I installed "Interswap", from, IIRC, a magazine coverdisc (the discs are
at work, so I can;t say which, for now, but I'll certainly be getting in
touch with them..!)

It allows ie4 settings to be saved and different configurations to be
used as required - useful if switching between providers with different,
or no, proxies, for example.

Although I can use it to launch ie4, I can no longer launch ie4
directly; or via an of my existing shortcuts; nor by launching an HTML
file.

In each case, I get an error message:

        Setup has detected that you are running a version of Windows 
        that already includes the updated files or enhancements you are 
        attempting to install.

        For more information, click Details.

        Click Cancel to return to Windows 98.

With the option to run the programme anyway greyed out.

Clicking "Details" gives:

        You are attempting to install Internet Explorer version 4.01 or  
        earlier on Windows�98. Internet Explorer is already part of the 
        Windows�98 operating system. Installing an earlier version of 
        Internet Explorer will not allow the operating system to 
        function properly.

I've tried uninstalling Interswap, but the error remains. Even if I was
happy only ot use ie4 through Inerswapp, it, being "trialware" expires
in 30 days!

Is this a registry issue? I've tried using the Registry Checker,
thorough help, to restore the registry, but it tells me there are no
errors.

What can I do?
