A question about dyslexia: English spelling is very irregular (cough enough plough through thorough though hiccough), in the sense that there's no one-to-one relationship between spellings and sounds. Many other languages are far more regular (maybe the combination of letters mapped to a sound doesn't make sense phonetically, but it is consistent). I think Spanish, Italian, French, and German are all pretty regular (though exactly which languages are regular isn't what I'm discussing). Do people have similar problems with dyslexia in these languages? If so, how do the statistics compare with English? Or does regularity of spelling have nothing to do with dyslexia? Best wishes, -- Michael Salem
