I'm about to upgrade from Win98SE to Win 2K; I currently use AtGuard.
Will it run under Win 2K? How can I backup and transfer my existing
settings?
Is there a better place to ask, than here?

AtGuard is no longer being updated. I switched from AtGuard to Agnitum Outpost free a while ago - I'm quite happy with it - and whilst I'm still running w98se, Outpost is compatible with (95,98, 98SE, ME, NT, 2000, XP). -- dave @ stejonda

Thank you - out of curiosity, what's the reasoning behind the latter?
