In a moment of fey recklessness, I decided to try out Office 2000
Premium on my laptop, plumping for the regular install option.

Everything seemed to be going OK on install but then it started flagging
up errors about being unable to install registry keys, giving me the
option to ignore or retry. Ignoring all my experience I've learnt about
when an install goes wrong, I strutted forth and rebooted the machine.

Everything looked to be installed OK - except nothing would run!

Deciding to abandon the whole thing (I've got work to do!), I tried to
uninstall Office 2000 but it's not possible! Everytime I try and get to
the uninstall option (either through the add/remove programs dialogue or
from the CD setup.exe) I get the same 'welcome to Office 2000' screen,
ten minutes of rattling drives and then the same error messages.

And the loop continues....

Please! Someone! How do I get this off my machine?!!!
(W98 SE, Sony laptop)

oh..

how much space did you have when you styarted the install?
and how many cd's did it get through (1,2,3 or 4)

it sounds like your out of disk space (including swap)

it probably will - can you uninstall something else?

you could try restoring one of the old registries that are saved and
hand deleting O2K
