Related issue: I'm using an iMac flatscreen, 10.1.5, and the Dazzle Hollywood DV video converter, and my 1997 vintage Hi 8 Sony. Works just dandy with iMovie. But I have a yearning to use the camera as a webcam, using software like Yahoo Messenger or ISPQ. Family video chats, let the littlies see Grandma on another continent more than twice a year. So I downloaded ISPQ & Yahoo Messenger both. Camera (via the Hollywood) plugged in & running. Fire up the Messenger. It detects that I have a webcam attached, but shows just a black screen. The same with ISPQ. More info: If I plug out the Dazzle, the apps (correctly) detect I do not have a webcam attached. I tried the IOexperts firewire driver, but it's not compatible (the Dazzle is not a DCAM firewire device.) Help! Has anyone else tried this? or do I have to a. wait for Jaguar (it's cure all, we're told) or b. lash out for a USB webcam & the IOexperts firewire driver?? Either way, it's expensive, and inelegant, for what should be a simple procedure (is in the PC world, and was with my old 7300 with an AV card. ) thanks for any help, Dave Oslo, Norway
