I guess you've got a bit of more digital jiggery pokery (technical term)
going on, your mac converts the data to a serial stream, the TA converts
it to ISDNish and sends it, if it's a PCI card you have a card on the
PCI bus that just converts it to ISDNish, I know that proably doesn't
explain a thing but I've seen it reported several times.
