I forget who the third party manufacturers are but BT have gone into
partnership with these guys. They are therfore able to offer low prices
and full technical support. The cards have been fully tested prior to
being released. I was told when I enquired about provision for Mac users
that yes, i could use the service but would need to be using either
Foresight's or Herstead's cards. I was then told that BT would not be
explicitly supporting these cards and so technical support was barred to
me.
I'm thinking of writing to the head of the department at BT that deals
with the highway service to campaign for better provision for Mac users.
Is this likely to be worthwhile or am I just wasting my breath?

AFAIK, no such thing exists. I too have beewn trawlling around trying to
find a reasonably priced card but currently such a thing doesn't exist.
Yet another example (if ever it were needed) of how hardware developers
are deserting the Mac platform and how we're treated like second class
citizens becuase we choose to use the technically superior platform ...
