I've done two things: (a) used the AT&F&D init string so that my string now reads: AT&F&D \V1 (b) followed some advice to... > > > btw, I've had lots of problems logging on myself, and one thing that > > > looks like it *might* be helping is changing (in the `advanced LCP > > > options bit) both Protocol Field Compression and addr/ctrl field > > > compression to `will' only (both local and remote). (I've also set the port speed back to 115200 from 38400) I don't know which of the two did it yet, but now I can't get the line to drop (touch wood). I'm running a heavy Fetch download (3,000 bytes per second) plus newswatcher plus starting up my VRML plugin and downloading a .wrl file, all more or less simultaneously. I'm connecting to the Energis beta number and getting error correction, compression, K56, transmit at 28800 and receive at 40000. According to FreePPP, my effective download speed is about 70000 bps. Bliss. -- Regards Bob, Bob Kenyon email: bob@raspbrry.demon.co.uk
