Perhaps if you changed the file extension from .mpg to .mp3 :) On the other hand, it could be a divx or xvid with an mp3 soundtrack... Forget trying to play it with QT Player - Apple have really let us down in that regard. Try the latest MPlayer OS X 2 and VLC.
