Pace V90 firmware upgrade

Has anybody got this to run OK? It started up Microphone and spent a
couple of minutes fiddling with my modem, then it reported an error and
quit. Every time I tried running it again it said it couldn't connect to
my modem (this was _very_ worrying as the update procedure had warned that
if it didn't complete it could 'render your modem inoperable'). In the end
I quit evrything and tried using the modem, it connected OK, and here I
am. Did it work? Is it OK to use? Help!

At least your's worked! My first attempt stopped the modem. The fix was to
send AT&F to reset the modem to the defaults. Try sending ATi4 to the
modem to find which version of the firmware is installed. V2.00 is V90.

I seem to remember that my own experience was similar. The modem has
worked flawlessly however and it does implement the new V90 connect
standard. (You can actually even tell by the different negotiation
sounds!).

Hello. I managed to use the upgrade ok but it took 4 or 5 attempts. At
first I just got error messages and had to start again. If you connect
to one of demons V90 numbers (0845 079 8668/0845 079 8666) and you reach
speeds of around 50k you know it's working.

I always connect at 48-50k which I think is a typical v90 speed. I'm
using a PM7100/80 with 7.6.1.

I had what sounds like exactly the same problem as you. Somehow I reset
the modem and could run the upgrade again and it seems to have worked.
All very preturbing though...

Matti.

Well I kept trying and on the sixth attempt it worked. Bit worrying, though.
