-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 2 students at the Gosta Green site of the University of Central England have been admitted to hospital with meningitis: "Antibiotics have been given to the close contacts of both cases", said Russell Rowley, UCE director of Student Services, "but vaccination is not indicated because neither of the cases are due to the sort of meningococcal bacteria for which there is a vaccine available. "Despite investigations, no direct link has been established between the 2 cases. Therefore, it has been decided by the University, & Birmingham Health Authority, not to offer antibiotic treatment to the remaining students & staff who study & work in the Gosta Green building". However, students at UCE *have* been given a leaflet giving more information about meningitis, & told to report to the student services medical room should they be in any further doubt. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP for Personal Privacy 5.0 Charset: noconv iQA/AwUBNNxzF0dRFO5sC2Q6EQLPbQCgkPkvKjFj8cxrF2ehFYMzcPrv6J4AoPHw Dr7KtCCl9EfoDUVuTSxL0c5o =0ntC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Try 'ctrl+k' for a more relaxing netnews. http://www.mahayana.demon.co.uk/ ...with bags more pictures

Oh, well, if they've got a leaflet, they should be perfectly safe from infection!! So that's alright then!!!!!!!!!! If this is the same leaflet that a friend of mine at Aberystwyth Uni got,it has a list of possible symptoms of meningitis, basically saying 'if you have...,see the campus doctor.' Among the usual ones,he was telling me,is 'Coma.' So don't forget : if you fall into a coma, you're in bad medical trouble and should see a doctor. Hmmm,I'd never have thought of that. -- "Of course, they all have lovely bottoms" Simon Tyers : hc97st@dmu.ac.uk http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Palms/6687/
