I wonder if Malcolm, Derek, et. al. are as concerned with the feelings of an animal much closer to them in anatomy. A mammalian with the desire to co-habitate with humans. An animal that eats the same food as humans; is often maintained as a pet. How do they feel when they pay the exterminator to crush the skulls of these creatures? Do they not feel pain like the maggot or carp? Do they not scream with pain when murdered? Maybe it's simply homicide (or rat-o-cide)....just eliminating the competition.
