Principals of Modern Optical Systems
====================================
Intensive Short Course
Ross Priory, Loch Lomond.
11th-15th June 1990
University of Strathclyde
Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering
There is currently a rapidly expanding interest in the use of optoelectronic
systems and an increasing awareness of the far reaching possibilities that this
technology affords. This short, intensive course will serve to introduce many
of these exciting applications, from remote sensing to information processing,
and will also equip the participants with sufficient knowledge of the
underlying physical principles to permit them to approach detailed design and
evaluation problems.
The final day of the course is devoted to an experimental programme which will
involve hands-on experience with optical systems. This will provide valuable
exposure to optical laboratory procedures.
Who Should Attend.
==================
There are three main groups who would benefit from this course. These are
technical managers who require a concise overview of the potential offered by
the technology, coupled with an insight into the underlying physical
principles; experienced in-service engineers who wish to concentrate their
future efforts in the optoelectronics field and who would use the course as a
starting point for more detailed work; and finally, newly employed graduates
who wish to be introduced to this particular discipline with a view to
undertaking research activity in an optoelectronics discipline
Although every effort will be made to make the course self-contained, some
prior background up to degree level, or equivalent, in physics or electronic
engineering, will obviously be advantageous.
Cost of the Course.
===================
The total cost of the five-day course, including both lecture and laboratory
programmes, will be 810 pounds sterling.
The course fee includes all lecture notes and associated material, full board
in shared accomodation at either Ross Priory itself or a local hotel, and all
local transportation from either Central Glasgow or the airport.
Please return application form below, together with payment, to :

Applications should be returned as soon as possible. Cancellation fees will be
levied for late withdrawals.

the course. In the latter case, fees will be refunded in full.
