"Il Regno del terrore (il 5 settembre 1793 al 28 luglio 1794) o 
semplicemente del terrore (francese: la La Terreur) era un periodo nella 
rivoluzione francese caratterizzata da repressione brutale. Il terrore 
ha iniziato con un regime politico centralizzato che ha sospeso la 
maggior parte dei successi politicamente democratici della rivoluzione e 
progettato perseguire la rivoluzione sugli argomenti sociali. Il 
relativo scopo dichiarato era di distruggere i nemici ed i conspirators 
interni ed inseguire i nemici esterni dal territorio francese. Anche se 
il regime sotto cui il terrore ha avvenuto ha cominciato a montarsi fin 
dal 2 giugno 1793, il terrore come tale iniziato il 5 settembre 1793 ed 
ha durato fino alle esecuzioni che seguono il colpo di 9 anni II (il 27 
luglio 1794) di Thermidor, in cui vari chiudono a chiave i capi del 
Regno del terrore sono stati eseguiti, introducenti la reazione di 
Thermidorian. Il terrore ha occorr le vite tra 18.000 - 40.000 compresi 
genti (valutazioni variano ampiamente, dovuto la differenza fra le 
annotazioni storiche e le valutazioni statistiche). Nel singolo mese 
prima che si concludesse, 1.300 esecuzione ha avvenuto".
