I've set up this group to discuss all aspects of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Raiilway, its history, rolling stock, route and the present preservation scene. Hopefully volunteers and management as well as members of the preservation society who can not visit the line will contribute to this group. This group has no official standing within the WLLR or the preservation society though I hope positive and useful ideas and coments will flow from it. Please pass details on to other lists and newsgroups that you are interested in. To subscribe use the address below. That's easy for you to say. Try going to the ticket office at Cardiff and asking for a ticket to that place. I did just that. "Can I have a return saver to *THAT* place" was my exact wording (emphasis on the "THAT") and they knew exactly what I meant. Dave

Definitely not, because the URL of any given item on the site will obviously be longer. In any case, I don't think it's even the longest domain name, because a few years ago someone deliberately created a longest possible domain name (they must be 255 characters or less, I believe). It might be the longest domain name componant on the net. -- Will Salt

The subject of this post is Llanfair Caereinion (to give it its full title) a small town in Mid-Wales. It is the western terminus and HQ of the 2ft. - 6inch gauge Welshpool & Llanfair Railway, the gala weekend of which just happens to fall this coming Saturday & Sunday, 2nd & 3rd September. Just above Llanfair Station is the local High School and Community Centre, wherein a splendid model railway show, devoted in the main to large scale models of narrow gauge prototypes, compliments the real thing. I hope to be there myself. Eddie. Eddie Bellass, Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, In the Occupied Territories of Old Lancashire.

Hopefully volunteers and management as well The "official" Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway web site is at http://www.wllr.org.uk As for The Countess you will have to look carefully to find her..... Currently she is undergoing a heavy overhaul. New: boiler, cylinders, water tanks. The only visible parts likely to be on public display are the frames !! The gala on 2 & 3 September is an excellent event, intensive train service including freight trains and Dougal (Barclay 040T gas works tank) pulling passenger trains. -- regards, Geoff http://www.btinternet.com/~zb699.01
