Hi all, This message is an attempt to let everyone know that my site Nursing and Health Care Resources on the Net ( http://www.shef.ac.uk/~nhcon ) will be closing next month (April 2001) and thank everyone who has contributed to it's development - so please excuse the cross posting. The site has been running continuously for 8 years (making it one of the longest continuously running nursing sites in the world) and has taken over 1 million hits, proving it must have been of some use - if anyone is interested in some analysis of the user logs its in the Online Journal of Nursing Informatics at: http://www.hhdev.psu.edu/nurs/ojni/an_analysis_of_web_site_usage.htm Many of you have contributed by submitting sites, making constructive comments about design, producing logos & colour schemes etc. and by adding links to the site or bookmarking it etc. and giving me positive comments personally or in the guest book - To all of you a big THANK YOU. Users arriving at the URL after it closes next month will be redirected to NMAP ( http://nmap.ac.uk ) which I believe will provide a better service by properly indexing and classifying resources including web sites, mailing lists etc. and have much better searching and browsing facilities - it should also be a much faster interface & proper database structure. This will however mean that for the many sites which do not meet the evaluation criteria, e.g. personal home pages, they will not be included in the new site & I apologise to any of you if your materials which fall into this category. Feel free to forward this to anyone you think I may have missed. An archive copy (as it was on 4.11.00) will be kept at http://www.rodspace.co.uk/nhcon however this is not being maintained and the number of broken links is already increasing rapidly. If you are interested in visiting any of the other sites I maintain please start at the URL in my .Sig file below. Once again thanks to everyone who has supported this site over the last 8 years. -- Cheers Rod Rod.Ward@Sheffield.ac.uk Lecturer, School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Sheffield http://www.rodspace.co.uk
