As you say, Dircon offer local calls via a single 0345 number for
those outside London - no need trying to track down your local number
when moving around the UK.

If you really want news from Demon, connect to pubnews.demon.co.uk -
if you can get on. Their ftp site is OK, but you also have
sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk which has about 70 gig of disks on it - plenty to
choose from there and it's not too slow either.
