Down on birmingham.misc street, the vibe from Andy Mabbett is:

~ >Anyone know if Central TV have finally got their brand spanking new
~ >Central Court complex fully up and running and moved out of the old ATV
~ >Centre? I heard they had some problems with the new computers...

As far as I know they moved out quite a while ago.

~ >What's going to happen to the old building?

Well, the *plan* is basically to raise the whole block to the
ground & build a new aluminium & glass thing with shops,
cinemas, ice rinks, & car parks, with the centre piece being
a tower block which dwarfs both alpha tower & the hyatt, &
looks suspiciously just like the tower block that was planned
to replace the rotunda. Can't say I like the look of it myself -
the scale just seems all wrong to me; i'm not a prince charles
as far as town planning goes (as I frequently say, I actually
*liked* paradise place before it was turned into paradise forum !),
but I do think it is important that buildings in any given area
share some basic similarities of scale.

There's a model of the proposed development in the reception area
of baskerville house (end of narrow street, nearly next to the
rep theatre) & an invitation for comments if people wish to get
the full details.
