I felt the same way until I turned 21. I So now that you can legally drink you dont care anymore? Surprise. Part of the thrill of drinking when underage was to feel more adult (and that you were getting away with something). Something solved by moving the drinking age back to 18. At least for beer. That way at least the RAs could keep an eye on parties rather than pretending not to know anything about them so they don't get canned. If I were a parent I'd much rather know that there was some semi-responsible, sober person at the party that I know will happen regardless of the desires of the administration or campus security. Maryland was certainly dry when I was there and we had plenty of parties...and they still do. But if they let RAs keep the parties from getting out of hand you probably wont have people falling out of dorm windows when drunk or drinking themselves into alcohol poisoning...at least not as often. Never make rules you can't (or don't) enforce... >I was never carded for them to take my fake ID away. Now all grown up I see >young punks doing the same things I did. I realize there too immature and >should not drink. Also did you see the sobriety check pt yesterday (Fri.) Do >you know in college park the majority of DWI's are under 21////HMMMM just Duh...the majority of the drinking population in College Park is under 21. That's like saying the majority of DWIs in China are Asian... certainly true but not very significant. And this posting indicates to me that you aren't quite as grown up as you might think if you see these people as nothing more than "young punks". Actually, it seems rather like an immature troll... >show lack of maturity, and with all the other ovber 21 immature people >running around we should not add theproblem. THANKS UCPM UNIVERSITY POLICE >FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll thank the UMCP police for a job well done when they eliminate rape and auto theft on campus. Underage drinking isn't quite as high on my list of priorities. Personally, I'd much rather they reduced the drinking age and really nail DWI drivers (of whatever age) even harder than they do now. Nigel PS One thing you'll never see: UMCP Police doing breathalizer tests on alumni on the way out after a game. Don't tell me that all those folks are sober...hell we went to Maryland didn't we? ;)
