Well it says so right here in the Fall 1992 "The Terrapin" Maryland
Athletics Newsletter. On page 5...

As Coach Duffner's Terrapins exit their new quarters to
take to the field they will for the first time in Byrd
enjoy a tradition that has been a part of Maryland for
over five decades. Between the complex [Byrd Center]
and end line will sit Testudo. His nose will be available
for the players to touch for good luck as they kick off a
	new century."

	UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Ever since I first attended this University, the administration
has cowtowed to the Athletic Department. I could almost understand
if they added revenue to the university, but if I understand correctly
they actually use money. And now they are taking a great STUDENT
tradition (rubbing Testudo's nose for good luck) and turning it
into one for the Athletes only.

WHO DO WE TALK TO TO PREVENT THIS FROM
			              HAPPENING?
