Hiya! We have 1 room available now in Takoma Park, MD (we may have on more in the future, but definitely one for now). The room is the largest one of a 4-bedroom house very close to the COOP and about a 20 minute walk from the Takoma Park metro. We are on the Montgomery County side of Takoma and it's a little under 10 minutes to get to UMD by car in the morning. We are asking $370 + 1/4 (the utilities are always fairly low). The house is wonderful, the remaining roomies have lived there for the past year quite happily: gas heating and stove large and beautiful backyard (owner has a landscaping co. to keep up with the beautiful front and back landscaping) screened in porch great neighbors (this is more important than it seems) tons of storage huge basement complete with a work room and bar (though not quite set up) washer-dryer (that we've had no problems with) we also have a small kitten - though to be honest, I'm terribly allergic to cats and she does nothing to upset my allergies (which is nice). A little about each of the roomies staying: I'm a 22 y.o female who just graduated and UMD, got back from Europe about a week ago. Until I find a another job, I am continuing work I do from home for the same company I worked for while in school. Works out nicely, though some afternoons I end up a little stir-crazy and hyper from being in the house all day :) I'm generallya decent roomie and spend most night just cooking or spending time with friends and such. The other roomie is a 26 year old grad-student in poli-sci who has been over here for the last year from Germany (and speaks English better than most Americans I know). He's very cool, works a lot, and has a thing for old cars. He's just an all-around nice guy that's usually pleased to help anyone out if he has the time to. I really couldn't imagine him not getting along with anyone. Kitten: a little freakish - lots of energy, loves to play, not destructive at all, but does tend to nip at me while I'm asleep to feed her, though thankfully, no new roomies will have to deal with her subtle messages like I do. Does she have a name? We keep going back and forth - possibly SETI or Lyra. I'd be happy to e-mail you any other information you cold posibly want from the layout of the house to my philosophies on roomies or the cat's veternary records. Feel free to e-mail me: melzie@fragment.com or melziepi@wam.umd.edu or give a buzz: 301.270.8742 Look forward to hearing from you! Melzie
