Ok, Let me start from the beginning.
I'm trying to install RH6.0 to my AST J50 Laptop. I have only one hd,
800mb, there is no any other OS on it, I'm going to use the whole of it
for RH. I used a PCMCIA ethernet card to install from a ftp site.
Trial 1: installing RH6.0, it went through until the setup finish
downloading files. An message came up:
Probing Result
Probing found some type of PS/2 mouse on port psaux.
There is an OK button, but I can't do anything, the screen frozen.
Trial 2: listening someone's advice, I start installing RH 5.2 first. It
has problem too, after the step to create a bootdisk, when the
setup was installing lilo, it gave me some error message, saying it's
not able to do so. I have to reboot. but since I already created
the bootdsik, I can get into RH5.2 using that disk. It went
through. However, when I go into the /boot directory, nothing is
there. I tried to do lilo. it returns:
First sector of /dev/hda5 doesn't have a valid boot signature.
I have tried a few other things to install lilo. didn't work. what should
i do now? did i screw up with the partitioning?
Thanks to all ideas!
