Help, I want to be able to run a plain old composite video signal into
a plain old philips vga monitor, (the type u use with a PC) does *anyone*
have appropriate pin-out maps of cables or instructions on how to do this???

*Any* help would be much appreciated, and e-mail replies even more so!

Thanx Muchly.... -- Dan.

Danny Boy,

can't simply do this. you have to convert the scan rate up from ntsc or
pal to vga. the quickest and simplest way to do this is to buy a techmar
box, it's from techmar. plug video in box, plug vga to box, plug box to
vga port on computer and you have pc/tv.

good luck,

I have a few adapters that change an EGA connector into VGA. This I use
for interfacing a Multisync monitor to a VGA video card. The 9 pin EGA is
the same as the CGA and monochrome PHYSCIALLY. A second adapter converts
9 pin mono to RCA video. Now if you connect the 15
pin to 9 pin, and then a 9 pin to CV RCA jack you should have it. I've
never tried this and Am not sure if the RCA jack input will work for your
application.

Eric

What you need is video to RGB converter. There are plenty of circuits
(ntsc/pal decoder) available from several manufactures.

You may not be able to do this if your monitor cannot handle the vertical (or I might
mean horizontal) scan rates of a composite signal. A TV picture is a 60hz INTERLACED
picture and most monitors can only do this at about 87hz. Read the FAQ on video that is
posted here regularily because this gives much more info about this.
