The Home Unix Machine - Brisbane User Group
-------------------------------------------
The Home Unix Machine - Brisbane User Group (HUMBUG) exists to get fellow
Unix users in contact with each other, to introduce people to Unix and
Unix-like operating systems, and to help users in operating those
systems. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Meetings tend to be informal. We socialise, discuss Unix and computing,
solve Unix problems for new and experienced users alike, and these days
have regular talks.
Meeting Details
---------------
Where: Hawken 3 Lecture Theatre, The University of Queensland.
Date: Saturday, 24th January, 1998.
Time: 3:00pm to 1:00am. (You don't have to stay the whole time! :-)
Cost: Membership is $15 for a full year, but no one has to join unless
they are going to use club services such as our network access
during meetings.
Food: The eating places (ranging from take away to a la Carte) at
'The Ville' are usually open until about 10pm on a Saturday night.
The Tennis Club on campus is open until about 8pm. All of these are
within 10 minutes walk of the meeting room. Several other take away
outlets are within 5 minutes drive.
Drinks: Tea, coffee, Milo, Coke and Diet Coke are available at the meetings.
The cost for tea, coffee or Milo is 10c for a styrophoam cup if you
don't bring a mug, and 40c for a cup full thereafter. Coke and Diet
Coke sell for $1/can. If you want something special, just ask and
we'll see what we can do.
Talks: Information on up coming talks is announced seperately.
For information on talks see the announcements by Bradley Marshall
(Talks Maintainer) on the announce mailing list.
For more information on club meetings and HUMBUG itself, see our web page
at http://www.humbug.org.au or see the HUMBUG FAQ posted periodically to
uq.general, bne.general, and aus.computers.linux.
A note to german speakers
-------------------------
Thanks to all the german speakers who have told me that humbug means
nonsense in german, you can stop mailing me now :-) Actually, considering
we are a social club as well as technical support group, nonsense is
sometimes an appropriate title ;-)
How to get there
----------------
If you do not know where the meeting room is, meet me at the University
Information booth at the entrance to the campus along Sir Fred Schonnell
Drive (just off the round about), 5 minutes before the scheduled start of
the meeting, or email me and we can arrange to meet at another time/place.
For further details, email me at robert@zen.humbug.org.au, or contact
the general mailing list.
Cheers,
-Robert
