When did Australia get a population of 60 Million? BTW, a lot of Australians did speak up about the guns, it might have been that you chose not to hear. Linking this issue to the gun debate is not likely to be productive. Given that rhetoric and abuse didn't do the gun cause any good, why try that tactic again? All abuse does is re-inforce the view that the bill correctly targets intemperate, uncouth characters, rather than imposing unworkable and unproductive restrictions on all internet users. Commonsense and technical arguments, rather than just emotional outbursts, are more likely to have the desired effect. The support that the government gets is from conservative, middle Australia. Unless you can convince them that this is a bad thing, the cause will be lost. Given the tone of the messages in this NG, I doubt that we stand a chance. Remember, censorship is already applied to magazines, books, videos and movies and the average person isn't even consciously aware of it, let alone objecting to it. The populus has a philosophical acceptance of censorship already and it is an easy argument to say that the net should be censored in the same way as other mediums.
