       BRING YOUR OWN ENVELOPE:  SPECIAL EARTH SCIENCE DAY POSTMARK

     A Postal Service hand cancel postmark commemorating Earth Science Day at 
the U.S. Geological Survey, in Reston, Va., will be available to collectors 
and non-collectors alike, Sat., April 29, 1995, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

     The Earth Science Day hand cancel shows a world map and the words "Earth 
Science Day - Celebrating Partnerships, April 29, 1995, U.S. Geological 
Survey Station, Reston, Va., 22092."

     Co-hosted with the Reston Association's Walker Nature Center, Earth 
Science Day Open House will include 150 exhibits and demonstrations on 
earthquakes and volcanoes around the world and water quality in your own 
backyard as well as historical photos of Reston over the years, and much more.  
Twelve public schools in the Reston-Herndon area, 13 federal agencies and 50 
partner organizations will participate in the all-day event.

     Reston Association exhibits include food, crafts, Blue Sky Puppets, 
O'Nature Puppets, and the music of Billy B., Dusty Rose and Terra Nova.  The 
day's activities begin at 9 a.m. with a 5-kilometer race and 2k fun run, 
Open House begins at 10 a.m.
