TUMS: The TUNIS User-Multiprocessing System
for fast, fast relief of upset cycle hogs
By David Blythe
Room GB 221
Time: 12:05
Date: Friday, Feb. 21st, 1986
Abstract
TUMS is a version of the TUNIS multiprocessor operating sys-
tem that allows the user to explicitly program several pro-
cessors in Concurrent Euclid. The Concurrent Euclid notion
of parallel processing is more or less left intact, except
for an additional construct to allow inter-processor commun-
ication. TUMS is currently running on six National 32016
boards, which communicate via a MULTIBUS backplane and share
1 Megabyte of global memory. Each processor has 1M of local
memory.
This seminar will discuss how to write programs under TUMS,
the issues of scheduling and critical resource access, and
will give performance measurements of an application pro-
gram.
