From about 10:50 to 11:20am Wednesday UUNET subscribers may have
experienced delays in uucp transfers, been unable to login, or been
unable to access their uucp spool.

A daemon on our main uucp spool system had problems and in its death
throes it caused that system to run out of of processes and quadruple
its load.  We believe we have eliminated the conditions which caused
the problem, but we are still investigating a complete solution.  No
data was lost.
