Justin, I was an English major who made A's with exactly the
kind of term papers you're talking about.  Then I switched
majors and suddenly found that I had to back up what I said
with evidence.  Maybe that's not true with all English depts.
(since my Eng study was elsewhere) but it certainly typifies
my experience.
