The 29th Annual Jansky Prize Lecture 15 November 1994 (Tuesday) at 8:00 pm Gilmer Hall Auditorium Corner of McCormick and Alderman Roads University of Virginia Charlottesville Dr. Vera Rubin Carnegie DTM, Washington D. C. speaks on "What's the Matter in the Universe". Dr. Rubin is well-known for her work on measuring and interpreting galactic rotation curves, which describing how galaxies rotate. These curves indicate that much of the matter in the outer reaches of galaxies must be darker than matter in the interiors of the galaxies, one form of `Dark Matter'. This is a public lecture, and Dr. Rubin presents clear and insightful lectures on a level well-tuned to the thoughtful listener. -- Alwyn Wootten
