On 12/3/96 at 5:32pm an e-mail death threat was sent to about
130 people nation wide. About fourteen of these people who
recieved the threat were students at UVA and an even larger
amount of students from Virginia Tech.
A return e-mail address was still on the death threat.
With the assistance of Virginia Tech Police Department, I
located the Virginia Tech student whos e-mail account sent the
message. My investigation revealed that the Virginia Tech
student in question was himself a victim of a prank. He
cooperated with me fully and was willing to go any length to
assist us in this investigation. He has in the past accidently
left his e-mail account open in a public lab. This is an open
invitation for someone to send any type of message in the
victim's name.
If you are one of these victims, it is my belief through
my investigation that the Virginia Tech student is sincere and
has fallen victim to a prank. If you are a UVA Student who
received this threat and wish to talk to me, just e-mail me your
phone number and I'll call or met with you in person. I'm
avaliable from 4pm to 11:30pm on most days.
