Vic Spitzer, Director of the Center for Human Simulation and professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, will speak on March 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the Newcomb Hall Theater. The center that Mr. Spitzer leads is an integral part of the nationwide Visible Human Project, the goal of which is to create a complete, three-dimensional, anatomically detailed representation of the human body. The long-term goal of the project is to apply this anatomical data to basic and clinical research, clinical practice, and teaching. Dr. Spitzer's group has been working on visualizing and manipulating (e.g. through virtual surgery) the digital human models. Mr. Spitzer holds bachelor's degrees in chemistry and math-physics from the University of Southern Colorado, a master's in nuclear engineering and a doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois. His talk is open to the public. Visible Human Project: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/research/visible/visible_human.html Center for Human Simulation: http://www.uchsc.edu/sm/chs/
