I've been searching for a place to live for almost 8 weeks, and no one in this town seems to allow cats. I've never had cats until this year and find them to be clean, odor-free animals, unlike dogs, and don't run 'round breaking things, like dogs do. Ironically, I've always been a dog person until this year. So what's the deal C'ville? Why do you hate cats? What damage can a little cat do to your home? I've had "Sampson" since December and no catastrophies have occurred in my apartment. The furniture is still in tact. Nothing has been broken. No waste matter has been deposited on the floor. Nothing but unconditional love has developed between he & I. What a tragedy it will be to have to return him to the SPCA when I have to move in August just because you won't allow me to keep such a quiet & loving creatur in your dwellings.

David, Where have you been looking?? My daughter lives at the Westgate Apartments. She has a cat (I think she does pay a little extra). In fact, when I go over there, it seems like there's a cat sitting in every window sill!

Dear cat owner, Management Services Corporation (MSC) allows pets in almost all of their apartments/townhomes/houses. Call them up, I'm sure they have something for you.

David, I understand your dilemma. I just got back from home where I had to leave my cat for the summer because the place where I am subletting has a rather nasty pet policy. I too have found cats to be the perfect companions. You can even train them to the toilet if you want and they don't urinate on the floor to get attention like a lot of dogs I know do. The suggestion about MSC is a good one. I am moving into one of their townhouses in Aug and will get to retrieve Kiki from home. Also if you want somethng a bit farther away Four Seasons allows pets for a small fee. Keep looking and good luck!! Cathy

Nonsense! Charlottesville does NOT hate cats.
Many of our most distinguished residents have enjoyed felinus
domesticus on many occasions. Generally with stir fry
vegetables and their choice of steamed or fried rice.
