file cannot be opened?

i have 8 on two machines. i moved a file on floppy from one machine to the other. i was suspicious after having done so since the newly arrived file had a dos icon, not a wpd one. i double-clicked the file and got the objection: "file.wpd as specified in the execution parameters, cannot be opened." suddenly, all the wordperfect files on my second machine cannot be opened with 8. why? what aspect of the association has been corrupted? how can i fix this?

I had this same problem and it was caused by having installed one later service pack on the first machine and not on the second machine. After upgrading the second machine to same version problem went away. Hope this will help.
