I actually took a class on this a long, long time ago. I recall that you
should stop watering when you've spread an inch of simulated rainfall in
each area. The problem is, I don't remember how often you are supposed to
do this (once a week?) To know when you've reached an inch, you just set
out a glass or something with straight (vertical) sides under the sprinkler
and time how long it takes to fill up to one inch. Then you will know how
long to run the sprinkler before you move it to the next area.

HOWEVER, if you are going to water every day, 10 minutes in each area
should be plenty of water to keep the lawn healthy. And early in the
morning is the best time to do it. Shortly after sunrise is ideal, but
shortly before sunrise is good also. The worst time to water is near or
shortly after sundown, and mid-afternoon is bad also, as it all just
evaporates before it can do any good. -Dave
