Your oversimplified view of the world makes no provision for those people who own their own domains, and who post or email from various addresses at those domains as a valid and effective communications management tool, and who now cannot do so. These addresses are just as "REAL" and directly associable with their owners as any ISP account. One of the reasons for owning a domain is to have a literally life-long valid email address, rather than what passes for "lifetime" in the Internet world of collapsing dot-coms. Most hosting services offer POP or IMAP service only, not SMTP. I sent Verizon a long, polite letter of complaint about this new policy and got back a page of the subject crapola signed by a PR person who wouldn't know SMTP from ordinary TP. I'm voting by terminating Verizon and going to Earthlink DSL. -- Larry
