I would like to add to the rants mentioned in this thread. I know this
switches gears a little, but it still is Verizon. Anyway, my dad and I
walked into a Verizon Wireless store in hope that we could switch our phones
and plan from analog to digital. My dad being smart, had called Verizon on
several occasions previous to coming to the store to buy a plan and the
phones. He THOUGHT he had already selected a plan on the phone and all he
had to do was mention it to a sales rep in the store to actually purchase
the plan and purchase two phones. However, what happened is that the plan
that he was going to go on was closed to new members as of August 1st
according to the sales rep and the computer. So, my dad called Verizon
Wireless using the same number he had, and got told that the best plan for
him was the one he had mentioned to the sales rep. My dad mentioned this to
the sales rep inside the store, and the sales rep went took the phone.
Anyways, after over an hour, my dad finally got a plan, though not the plan
he wanted and for a little more than he wanted to pay. By the time we left
the store, we had been in there for over 90 minutes (the printers at Verizon
were going on the fritz at that time too). To sum up my rant, it is really
sad when the people on the phone and the people in the store are not on the
same page. It is simply ridiculous. This was yesterday. Today, my dad called
his Stock broker and told him to sell any Verizon stock that my dad may have
owned. He also vowed not to renew his contract after it expired next summer
(it would have cost him $180 to break the contract now). In the same
respect, their phone lines are so outdated at my house, that I can not
receive an internet connection of over 28800 bps because of my signal having
to go through too many analog-digital switches. Shit, when I go to college
next year, I hope I don't end up going to a place covered by Verizon in any
way whatsoever.
