Funny, but the msg you mentioned was removed from the thread to the
LoJack info on my server, perhaps someone cancelled it? In case others
missed it, just tune in with a scanner to 173.075 you'll hear the LoJack
signal.

I believe it transmits only once per minute, it may be more often than
that, FCC rules apply. You'll only hear a very brief "chirp", like the
keying up of a microphone on a PD radio. It contains tracking info about
the location of the stolen vehicle.

I'm surprised that an enterprising car thief hasn't used a scanner to
make sure the car he steals doesn't have a LoJack. Actually a frequency
counter could be used to actually locate the compartment the transmitter
was in (a FC is used as a counter intelligence tool to find bugging
devices, it locates the signal source and displays the frequency).

Has anyone heard of such a compromise of the LoJack? I hear the signal
all the time on my scanner and sometimes it quite strong indicating the
stolen vehicle is nearby. Other times I hear multiple LoJacks operating,
the signal strength varies and the spacing between the chirps makes it
obvious there is more than one operating.
