	Oh good. I *thought* I just coined it. By analogy
with cisAlpine and transAlpine -- this side of vs. beyond
the Alps -- you might at first (briefly) get cisPotomackian
or cisPotomacan.  But those look and sound insufferably
awkward. 

	My stab at what it will quickly wear down to, if it
ever gets any real use -- as I, obviously, think imnsho it
should -- is cisPotomian. (On further consideration,
cisPotoman might be better.)  

	Just the way languages work -- especially if you
happen to be a historian of tongues, even an amateur one.

	Gawdknows the biggest river we've got ain't no
mountain range; but, like the Beltway, it marks a major
divide. All kinds of things depend on which side you're on.
