Before they built I-75, US highway 41 was the main road between Atlanta
and Florida. 41 comes though my hometown. I had an uncle that made a
small fortune by selling $1 tickets to the tourist wanting to see a real
live "jack-a-lope" in his store, rest-stop. It was his cat with plastic
antlers on his head. The cat was unusually good natured about it and
enjoyed the attention. One week, he made $500 on "boots" alone!
