The list DECTEI-L (formerly ESL-L) is intended for the discussion of any
and all topics related to the Digital Equipment Corporation's program
know as The Education Initiative (TEI).

This list is currently gatewayed into the bit.listserv.dectei-l news group.

A member of the list has asked me to determine whether this news group
should remain in the bit.* hierarchy or move to the vmsnet.* (or whatever
it is called in the future) hierarchy.

Please reply to me so I can tabulate the opinions, announce the results to
the list, and ask for their assistance in placing this list in the
hierarchy where it will reach the most people.

Thanks,
Jim...

Errrr, ummm, (cough)
I think that emotion is a little strong.

It is true that most of the readership is pretty defensive of DEC -- they
give as a whole bunch of software for almost free -- but it is a bonified
discussion group with questions and answers. DEC gets raked over the coals
on occasion. There is no censorship that I have seen, nor have I ever seen
12 responses to a post. Flaming is rare. The discussion is of some importance
to almost all educational users of DEC software.
