If anybody can explain some problems I'm having with integer and
floating point signal handling on the Alpha, I would really appreciate
it.
1. I can't get integer division by zero handling to work at all
on the Alpha.
integer division by zero results
DECstation: sig is 5 (SIGTRAP), code is 7
VAX: sig is 8 (SIGFPE), code is 2 (FPE_INTDIV_TRAP)
Alpha: the signal isn't handled, and the program fatals with
SYSTEM-F-INTDIV, arithmetic trap, integer divide by zero
2. Floating point division by zero is signaled as an overflow trap.
floating division by zero results
DECstation: sig is 8 (SIGFPE), code is 0 (unknown)
VAX: sig is 8 (SIGFPE), code is 9 (FPE_FLTDIV_FAULT)
Alpha: sig is 8 (SIGFPE), code is 3 (FPE_FLTOVF_TRAP)
3. Floating point overflow is signaled as an underflow trap.
floating overflow results
DECstation: sig is 8 (SIGFPE), code is 0 (unknown)
VAX: sig is 8 (SIGFPE), code is 8 (FPE_FLTOVF_FAULT)
Alpha: sig is 8 (SIGFPE), code is 5 (FPE_FLTUND_TRAP)
I am using signal.h and the signal function, /standard=vaxc, and
/float=ieee_float (floating point mode doesn't seem to make any
difference).
