        Yes, DEC's own documentation says:
MACRO

  /MIGRATION

    Alpha_Instruction_Built-ins

         It is recommended that you place any built-in within an
         ".IF DF,EVAX"  conditional code block unless the module is Alpha-
         specific.

        HOWEVER, THIS ISN'T TRUE!  In fact, NOTHING is defined on the
        MACRO-32 compiler on Alpha.

        DEC's answer: "Oh, just assemble with SYS$LIBRARY:ARCH_DEFS+your code".
        My response: "Oh look, there IS NO ARCH_DEF ON THE VAXES!!!"

        Dear DEC, please cease the cerebro-rectal interface and put
        builtins into the AMAC assembler, JUST LIKE YOUR #@&$*(
        documentation and my #*&($ expectations want it to be.
