Under VMS 5.5-2 the maximum value for wsmax is 400000 pages. On a machine with 512 MB of memory i'd like to use 800000 pages for global buffers; this works, as there can be up to 32767 global buffers times 32 pages bucketsize (in our case) gives more than a million pages. I can do a $ set file/glob= 30000 (or allocate fewer buffers on different files), but if a process opens that file (or all the files), he can't have more than 400000 pages im memory. I'm sure some higher Version of VMS will raise this limit eventually, but 400000 seems a rather arbitrary value, so i guess this could be increased somehow. Has anybody done this ? Any ideas / pointers how to do it ? Caveats ? :-) Thanks, Franz Schoenbauer, Tech. Univ. Vienna, ΒΊ system@eimoni.tuwien.ac.at Resselg. 3/188 A-1040, Vienna, Austria ΒΊ +43(1)58801 ext. 4126
