Gonzo A good way I've seen to do this is to move your MAIL.MAI file to a subdirectory and then place ACLs on the DIRECTORY, not the MAIL.MAI file... the reason is that if you place an ACL on the MAIL.MAI file (at least on my system) the ACL is deleted when you COMPRESS your mail... so the pest can bug you again when you COMPRESS unless you reset the ACL every time... The best way I know of to do this is to get into mail and at the MAIL prompt type MAIL> SET MAIL [.MAIL] which sets your mail directory to a MAIL.DIR file off your default SYS$LOGIN directory... then set down SYSTEM privs on the MAIL.DIR file ( $ SET PROTECTION=(S,O:RWED,W:RWE) MAIL.DIR works for me) and then take away privs from the pest using an ACL.... ( $ SET ACL/ACL=(id=[USERNM],access=none) MAIL.DIR works for me, where USERNM is the username of the pest.) this may not work for all systems, but it works for mine, for what it's worth. -- J.
