To all:

Thanks for all of your replies on the subject. Obviously I missed
an important section in the New Features manual (excuse: Bookreader
is our site's only means for VMS documentation...that's right, no
paper copies. Sigh, I miss browsing...)

Well, anyway, I can offer a little tid-de-bit. We demo'ed RTF
(Remote Tape Facility), from Touch Technologies I believe. It
allows you to share tape devices over the Ethernet, and it seemed
to work quuite well. Performance wasn't bad at all (but we didn't
traverse a bridge on the Ethernet...they promote "worldwide access").
We didn't buy it because we'll wait for VAXcluster sharing instead.
Guess we'll have to wait a bit longer :)

Thanks again!

Don't feel bad, all it said was that it only works on TMSCP tape drives. They
assume you know which ones those are. (Yeah, right.)
