In TPU, there is a routine called CALL_USER, which allows
you to run an external (non-TPU) subroutine that is
user-written (well, actually, programmer-written) in a
regular VAX programming language, such as FORTRAN, C, or
BASIC. The name of the external routine is TPU$CALLUSER.
The TPU_CALLUSER package is a general-purpose implementation
of the TPU$CALLUSER routine. Instead of having one
designated function, or a predeterminied set of functions,
the TPU_CALLUSER package allows the TPU user to call
subroutines in system libraries (or any other shareable
image libraries) on the fly.
